How does Cloudstone Curio work?

Asked by shai.alaloof 8 years ago

I understand it lets you bounce cards to your hand, but I read about the Combo Elves deck with Cloudstone Curio in it.

The site says you can cast an elf, tap a Heritage Druid and two elves for mana, then return Elvish Visionary to your hand, cast it again, leaving one mana floating, and so on and so on.

I was just thinking, wouldn't the Curio automatically trigger before you can pay the elves for three mana, sending one back to your hand?

Cloudstone Curio, Elvish Visionary, Heritage Druid.

You're missing a piece of the combo which is Nettle Sentinel (You'd need 3 of them for it to work).

With those creatures on the battlefield, you can draw your library.

  1. Cast a 1 drop elf. Nettle Sentinels trigger, untapping them. Then tap them for .

  2. Elf ETB's. Triggers Cloudstone Curio. Bounce another 1 drop elf then cast it, netting .

  3. Repeat 1 and 2 for "infinite" mana.

  4. Now alternate casting/bouncing of a creature and Elvish Visionary to draw your library.
