Eidolon of Countless Battles and Starfield of Nyx would render a creature with how much p/t?
Asked by Fizzz 9 years ago
Hello,
If I have 3 creatures counting the Eidolon, and enough enchantments to enable Starfields second ability, how much p/t would the eidolon have? Would it be a 8/8?

Here is what I am assuming your board is:1x Starfield of Nyx1x Eidolon of Countless Battles (creature not aura)2x Non-enchantment creatures3x Non-creature enchantments
Assuming the above, the Eidolon would be a 9/9
It starts as a 3/3 because of the Starfield (cmc=3)
+1/+1 for itself
+2/+2 for the two non-enchantment creatures
+3/+3 for the non-creature enchantments that are now creatures

The Eidolon gets +1/+1 for each creature (of which you have 3, not counting enchantments) and for each Aura (of which you have 0 from what I gather from your question). Starfield of Nyx makes it a 3/3, so it's a 6/6 in total at least. Likely, your other enchantments will be creatures, so that's another +4/+4 (or +5/+5 if another one of those enchantments is a Starfield of Nyx) at least.
Your Eidolon will be at least 10/10, if you control four other enchantments of which neither is a second Starfield of Nyx. If it is, or you have more than four additional Enchantments, it's all up from here.

I wasn't counting the Eidolon into the five required enchantments, so yeah, 9/9 at least.

What are y'all talking about?
If you control Starfield of Nyx, Eidolon of Countless Battles, 2 Glory Seekers, and 3 copies of Martial Law you would have a 6/6 Eidolon. You control 2 plain creatures, 3 enchantments made creatrures and 1 Eidolon. You control no auras thus you get a 9/9.
EDIT: Here is how you find out the Eidolons p/t:
3 + #creatures + #non-creature enchantments -1 = p/t of Eidolon

Knowing how many enchantments are auras and how many of them aren't also creatures matters a bit, but assuming 0 auras and 4 enchantments that aren't creatures, one of which is Starfield of Nyx, plus Eidolon of Countless Battles to activate Starfield and a total of 3 creatures, one of which is also an enchantment, we have:
- 7b. Eidolon of Countless Battles PT are set to 3/3, his CMC.
- 7c. Eidolon of Countless Battles gets +6/+6 from 6 creatures. Starfield of Nyx has turned 3 undefined enchantments that weren't creatures into creatures, add that to the 3 that were there before and there you go.
Eidolon of Countless Battles is a 9/9. This calculation changes if more of those creature are also enchantments and are not made into "new" creatures of Eidolon to see, and if any enchantments are auras they won't be made into creatures but Eidolon will get +1/+1 from them anyway.

It would be an 8/8/ In the layer system abilities that change types (like starfield's ability) are applied before you determine power and toughness. So when the game wants to know how many creatures there are it sees that your enchantements are already creatures from Starfield of Nyx.
