Easy populate Q
Asked by thewyzman 12 years ago
If I populate, Rootborn Defenses for example, a creature token like a Centaur, which has been built up with +1/+1 counters, is the new token created with those same counters on it?
- Board example: A (3/3) Centaur with two +1/+1 counters granted by Master Biomancer , making it effectively a 5/5 Centaur.

No, it'll just be a 3/3.
Whenever you create a copy of something, you copy all of the copible values of the object you copied. This includes all the values printed on the object, specificly: name, mana cost, color indicator, card type, subtype, supertype, rules text, power, toughness, and/or loyalty.
Things like auras, counters, and even effects like Giant Growth won't count.

Of course, if Master Biomancer is still around, the new token will -also- get two +1/+1 counters from the Biomancer, though it won't get the two already on the first centaur.

Thanks guys. My opponent/friend thought otherwise, so just wanted to clarify. I'll be sure to show him this post!
A Master Biomancer and Voice of Resurgence would be a gross combination otherwise with VoR getting bigger each time (assuming MBM sticks around, right Devonin?)
:D

No, any copy effects copy exactly what is on the card. So when you populate the 3/3 Centaur, you'll get another 3/3 Centaur with no +1/+1 counters on it.
