does skullcrack make it so you cant block with your creatures

my friend used skullcrack and said i couldnt block because it was preventing damage.

Wow that's some liberal reading of the rules.

Skullcrack refers to an effect or ability that actually says "prevent damage to X", like Shielded Passage or "Protection of green". A Skullcrack played that turn would nullify both. I would NOT however, prevent you from blocking. If it did, it would say that (Ex: Mugging ).

So, GreatSword, would a Skylasher be prone to death if it blocked a Geist of Saint Traft and in response you cast Skullcrack or you were you meaning the player specifically in the case of say Circle of Protection: Red ? If so I may have overlooked Skullcrack 's uncommon badassness...

That was a typo, meant to say "protection from green". The Skylasher in your situation would indeed be squashed.

Oh wow... I may be running 4 copies of Skullcrack in my red aggro decks then lol. I get so tired of Fog s, Safe Passage s, etc.

I also overlooked Skullcrack getting around protection from (color).

Makes sense though: "702.15e Any damage that would be dealt by sources that have the stated quality to a permanent or player with protection is prevented."

Definitely adds even more value to the card.
