Disentomb vs. Consume the Meek
Asked by NewYork01 14 years ago
If I have Bloodthrone Vampire out on the field and my opponent casts Consume the Meek can I use Disentomb to bring it back? since I'm not regenerating it, I imagine I can't tap 1B and regen Reassembling Skeleton but can I disentomb it?
Once a creature goes to your graveyard it can be targeted by Disentomb . You can also use Reassembling Skeleton 's ability to bring him back to play.

Sorry, to go along with my previous post, regeneration states something around,"If this creature would be sent to the graveyard to play you may (pay/do whatever it states) to regenerate this creature." So that furthers the point that neither of those instances you stated are regeneration.

First of all you aren't regenerating Reassembling Skeleton by activating it's ability, instead you are returning it to the battle field. Since both the skeleton and Disentomb aren't doing any regeneration you can certainly use them.
Regenerate refers specifically to the replacement effect regenerate:
701.11a If the effect of a resolving spell or ability regenerates a permanent, it creates a replacement effect that protects the permanent the next time it would be destroyed this turn. In this case, Regenerate [permanent] means The next time [permanent] would be destroyed this turn, instead remove all damage marked on it and tap it. If its an attacking or blocking creature, remove it from combat.

Sorry, graveyard from play.
I wish they would allow you to edit your posts instead of creating a new one.

thanks everyone!I imagine I couldn't tap a forest and get River Boa back, because that would actually be :regenerate. thanks a ton!

Reassembling Skeleton does not actually become regenerated, it is just put back on to the field from the graveyard, in no way is this regeneration.
Also you can use disentomb on either, but it is more useful on the Bloodthrone, since this is also not regeneration. All you are doing is returning a card from your graveyard to your hand.
