Cloning a Progenitor Mimic

Asked by asasinater13 9 years ago

first situation:

I have a Progenitor Mimic copying a Woodfall Primus, can I put a Quicksilver Gargantuan onto the Progenitor Mimic so that I can be getting two instances of Woodfall Primus each upkeept?

second:

assuming the first situation works; I have that to start out, then can I flicker Progenitor Mimic with a Deadeye Navigator to copy the Quicksilver Gargantuan (coping a mimic copying a primus) to give it two instances of the "gets a clone a turn" ability.

along the lines of the second situation, a Progenitor Mimic token the ones they make during upkeep) have the "make another token if it isn't a token" text, so would I be able to flicker a progenitor mimic onto one of its tokens to give it tow instances of the "create a token" ability?

I could be missing something in layers that stops this from happening, anyone know?

1) Yes. Copy effects copy anything written on the card, plus any text added or changed by text-changing effects or other copy effects. Progenitor Mimic is a copy of Woodfall Primus with the additional ability prescribed by Progenitor Mimic's copy ability. If you copy Progenitor Mimic, you'll get a copy of Woodfall Primus with Progenitor Mimic's added ability.

2) Yes for the same reasons given above.

3) Yes. The token will have the ability per the copy effect interactions, but it won't do anything for the token. Copying the token with a nontoken permanent, however, will allow you to capitalize on that ability.
