Clarification Beguiler of wills
Asked by LordofInfect 13 years ago
If I gain more creatures, do I lose control of the creature I took control of?I don't think so but just want to clarify
So doin' something like Dismember on a fatty, then stealing him, would be totally legit.

Yup it's perfectly legal, you just have to let Dismember resolves before activating Beguiler of Wills

The card only requires that the creature have a power less than or equal to the number of creatures you control. It says nothing about the conditions needing to remain the same. You would only lose control if the creature was killed or a card like Homeward Path or any other creature control spell was used.

@BigBruce and of course the creature must still be alive.

Priority always passes around the table before a spell or ability on the stack resolves. Yes, anyone can respond with a Doom Blade to kill the creature Beguiler of Wills is targeting (killing the Beguiler itself won't counter its ability).

Yup, but once the ability is on the stack, It will resolve as long as the target remains legal. If Beguiler of Wills said "as long as you control Beguiler of Wills " then the effect wouldn't happen.

From the oracle ruling, the 1st part is your answer :
1/22/2011 - The control-changing effect lasts indefinitely, even if the power of the creature becomes greater than the number of creatures you control after the ability resolves.
If you would lose control of the creature, the ability would have said so.
