Chancellor of the Spires + Infernal Offering

Is this a possible infinite? Cast Chancellor, take opponent's Infernal Offering and sacrifice chancellor then draw two cards, bring back Chancellor of the Spires and recast Infernal Offering with Chancellor's ETB. doing it infinitely?

No, you cannot do that.

You have to select all targets for the spell as part of the casting process, well before the spell resolves. At the time, chancellor cannot be a target of Infernal Offering's second ability, as it is still on the battlefield.

What if Body Double is in my graveyard? chancellor will still be in the battlefield as Infernal Offering's secnd ability stack, I choose to bring back Body Double and copies the sacrificed Chancellor of the Spires?

Actually, scratch my previous answer. The second ability does not target, for some reason. So, the original combo you suggested, it works.

However, even though you get to do this indefinitely, unless you have other targets for chancellor's ability and/or other creatures to return from the graveyard, you will draw your whole deck and lose.

Actually you can. Note that Infernal Offering does not target. You choose what creature to sac and recur. This happens during the resolution of the spell. Since it resolves from the top down, the creature will be sacrificed and then you can recur that same creature if you wish.

The reason this goes "infinite" is because Chancellor of the Spires' ETB ability doesn't go on the stack until a player would receive priority which is after Infernal Offering has fully resolved which at that time is back in the graveyard and is a legal target for the ability.

Also, Body Double would work as well because when you are recurring a creature, the sacrificed creature is already in the graveyard.

Can you explain the mechanic between the second ability of Infernal Offering on why the combo would work if it was not a "targeted" ability rather than if it was targeted?

Sorry it confuses me on how cards go onto the battlefield, or "when" they go on the battlefield.

oh I meant graveyard not battlefield.

Whenever a spell or ability that targets is put on the stack, all targets must immediately be made before it begins to resolve. If this was the case, Chancellor of the Spires wouldn't be a legal target to recur because at the time of choosing targets, it's not in the graveyard and therefore not a legal target.

Alternatively, when making choices in a spell or ability, those are done when it is actually resolving. Meaning you can choose to recur the same creature you sacrificed.

Note that Infernal Offering has the sacrifice part first, followed by the recur part. If it was reversed, you must choose and recur a creature first then sac a creature.

Note as well that if you have another sac outlet, such as Ashnod's Altar, you can make your opponent draw their entire deck, while not causing yourself to draw yours.

Cast the Chancellor of the Spires -> ETB trigger goes on the stack when it enters.
Respond to the trigger by sac'ing it to Ashnod's Altar (or whatever).
Resolve the ETB trigger allowing you to cast the Infernal Offering from your opponent's graveyard.
When Offering resolves, you select the same opponent for both parts.
They sac a creature and draw 2, then return a creature... you have no other creature, so you don't sac and don't draw, then you return the Chancellor...
ETB goes on the stack, sac the Chancellor and repeat.

Start it of by hitting the opponents that are tapped out... otherwise, they will likely draw into something that will stop the combo.
