Card synergy question
Asked by Sukuren 5 years ago
If i play a Bishop of Wings (when angels enter battlefield gain 4 life) and then play an Angel of Vitality (if you have 25 or more hp add +2, +2 and when you gain life, you gain that much plus 1). Does it turn into a 4,4 since the hp gain +4 from bishop was plus'd 1 by the angel passive. Or do I just have 24 hp and the angel remains 2,2 since it was played that turn and resolves after the bishop ability activates?
In the future, please use the Rules Q&A section of this site when you have questions about rules, cards, or card interactions. It has some added functionalities, such as the green "Mark as Answer" button to indicate your question has been resolved.
I have gone ahead and moved the thread for you.
Here's how it works:
-
Angel of Vitality enters the battlefield. Bishop of Wings triggers and its ability goes on the stack.
-
When Bishop of Wings ' ability resolves, Angel of Vitality is still on the battlefield, which means its +1 life static ability is in effect. Its static ability creates a replacement effect, whereby when you gain life, you gain that much life +1. This replacement effect applies to the resolving Bishop of Wings ability, giving you 5 life.
-
You now have 25 life. Angel of Vitality 's +2/+2 static ability is now implicated, so it is now a 4/4.

If you play Bishop of Wings first and then Angel of Vitality you will only get life from the Bishop and not the angel so you will only have 24 life. If you play the angel first and then the Bishop you will have 25 life as Caerwyn explained

Bishop of Wings does not technically "activate". its a triggered ability, not an activated ability.
saluma: thats actually not at all what Caerwyn said. if the angel comes into play first, zero life is gained. if the bishop is in play first, 5 life is gained. im legitimately confused how you messed it all up so badly.

I assume they did what I almost did, which was not look at the linked card and only went based on the description given in the brackets, and therefore get Bishop of Wings mixed up with Dawning Angel .
