Can you trigger multiple abilities when discarding one card?

If I had 2x Heir of Falkenrath on the battle field, if I discard one card can it trigger both of them?

When discarding a card is a cost for an activated ability, you must pay that cost for each activation.
When discarding a card is a condition for a triggered ability, each ability will be triggered by the condition being fulfilled.
So look for a colon ( : ) in the rules text. If an ability says "Discard a card: do something awesome" then it is an activated ability, and the answer is no you can not activate multiple abilities by paying the cost once.
If two cards, instead, say "whenever you discard a card do something awesome" then you will do two awesome things whenever you discard one card.
Does that explain it?

Note also that for triggered abilities that trigger from discards, you need a way to discard a card. You can't just discard a card because you feel like it; you have to do so as part of the payment of a cost (for a spell or another ability), as an effect of a spell or ability, or as a turn-based action during the cleanup step.

For instance, if you have two Heir of Falkenrath Flip on the field along with two Confessor (what sort of deck are you playing anyway?)
If you choose to discard a card to flip Heir of Falkenrath Flip, you will only flip the one who has the ability you activated, but that discard will trigger the ability on BOTH Confessors.
Does that help?

i have a question that is around the same lines but want to clear it up i am working on a Borborygmos Enraged commander deck i was wondering with his discard a land card do 3 damage can that be triggered using Faithless Looting ability to draw 2 cards and discard 2 cards and the cards are lands?

Discarding cards to Faithless Looting will not trigger Borborygmos Enraged. Note that Borborygmos Enraged's ability is activated: it will only activate when you specifically discard a land to the ability.

remember to link your cards
Heir of Falkenrath Flipnow to answer your question discarding one card would not trigger both your Heir of Falkenrath Flip because it says discard a card transform it not whenever you discard a card transform it :)April 21, 2016 6:05 p.m.
