Can I untap Aphetto Alchemist with his own ability?

Aphetto Alchemist specifically says, untap target artifact or creature- not, untap another creature, (unlike Kiora's Follower). So by using Aphetto Alchemist + Illusionist's Bracers + Birds of Paradise, would I be able to make unlimited mana by untapping Birds of Paradise with Aphetto Alchemist and then untapping himself with the copy of his ability created by Illusionist's Bracers?
