Can I search for a card like Sea Gate, Reborn with a land tutor?

After reading the rules on modal double-faced cards like Sea Gate Restoration Flip and other cards like it, I am more confused now than I was before. I know I can search for Sea Gate Restoration Flip with cards like Mystical Tutor and Solve the Equation, but can I search for Sea Gate, Reborn Flip with tutors like Expedition Map and Sylvan Scrying?

No. In all zones other than the battlefield and stack, the characteristics of MDFCs are defined by the front face. Sea Gate, Reborn Flip is only ever a land while on the battlefield (it can never be on the stack), so it cannot be found by effects that look for land cards like Expedition Map or Sylvan Scrying.
