Can I cast both halves of a Fuse card (say, Wear / Tear) off of Sunforger?
Asked by Daedalus19876 9 years ago
Exactly what it says above. Can I cast either side, both (fused), or neither?

Ah. Thank you. Further question: would I be able to cast Electrickery for its overload cost?

Its covered on the gatherer page for Electrickery (last ruling)
Casting a spell without paying its mana cost (from Sunforger for example) is an 'alternative cost'. Overload is also an 'alternative cost' and you can't cast the spell for both alternative costs.

WomboCombo got it, but i thought i'd mention that if you searched a split card where one half was white or red and the other was not, you could still cast the off-color spell for free. from ruling 708.6a
you could not overload Electrickery since overload is an alternate cost. Sunforger also gives you an alternate casting cost of 0, so you could not cast a spell for 2 alternate costs

lithium142 brings up a good point.
Using Sunforger - You could search up Turn / Burn (since the 'Burn' side is a red instant spell with CMC of 4 or less) and then cast Turn without paying the card's mana cost.

Thank you all, even though I wish the answer had been different, heh. :)

You will only be able to cast one half of Wear / Tear.
In the reminder text for 'Fuse' it says that "You may cast one or both halves of this card from your hand" and since the spell is being cast from your library, you will only be able to choose 1 half to cast.
