Can a black creature with protection from white block a white attacking creature? For example Black Knight is on my side of the battlefield and my opponent attacks with a Precinct Captain can I block it with my Black Knight ?

if i play Brave the Elements, and all their creatures are hybrid red (I name red) then do all my creatures get through unblocked? I hear people refer to this as an Alpha Strike.

Also yes. Brave the Elements will give your white creatures protection from red (if you call that colour), and hybrid cards such as Boros Reckoner are both a white and red creature at the same time. The white portion does not override the fact that the red hybrid symbol makes contributes to their colour identity. Your creatures will get through.
An Alpha Strike refers normally to swinging with most/all your creatures for lethal damage 'balls to the walls' in an attempt to finish off an opponent. Normally swing in and just pray they don't have any answers waiting in hand.

Yes you would be able to get through unblocked because part of their colour would be red. That's why Painters Servant can be gotten around, they name a color and you can Brave the Elements to get by all their stuff. But yes, with either hybrid red (Boros Reckoner) you can get throgh with protection.

So the red cards can't be assigned as blockers, is what im asking mostly.
someone blocked and said that simply my creature wont take damage from their red one.i dont think that was the case and should've been unblockable.

protection from means they can't be blocked by the creature which color their protection states. So they should not have been able to block you.

It's important to note that in order to have your guys be unblockable, you have to play Brave the Elements before blockers are declared. If you wait until after blockers are declared to give your creatures protection, that won't undo any existing blocks.

@ Kismet protection from a color prevents spells of that color that target, creatures of that color or that share that color from blocking or dealing damage or targeting protected permanents with abilitys. Only mass effect spells that dont target can effect the protected card reguardless of the spells colors. Also as mentioned above the protected creature may still block and target the chosen or assigned protection color unless the permant has protection from your color.

D.E.B.T is the memory acronym that get's tossed out to remember.
A creature with protection from X color can't be -
- Damaged
- Enchanted/Equipped
- Blocked
- Targeted
By any spell, ability or permanent that shares that color.

YES
Think of protection from X as this: DEBT
Cannot be:
Damaged by X sources
Enchanted/Equipped by X sources
Blocked by X sources
Targeted by X sources

Hmmm DEBT is a great way to remember it! Thanks guys. I wont let that misplay happen again, now that i know what should have happened! (darn lost top 8 due to that match too.)
Much appreciated!

Yes. Any white creature (assuming they're not pro-black) can be blocked by Black Knight . The white creature will not do damage to Black Knight as it cannot receive damage from a white source.
