Blood token and Dredge timing question

Asked by CamraMaan 2 years ago

I'm building a self-mill deck, so my question is if I have Golgari Grave-Troll in my hand, and a bunch of Blood tokens on the battlefield, can I pay 1cc, sac a blood token, discard my Grave-Troll, then put the card draw on the stack, then when it resolves can I opt to dredge my Grave-Troll back into my hand (and mill 6 cards)? Then wash, rinse and repeat with the next blood token? Thanks in advance! :)

In order to activate the Blood token, you'll need to discard as part of the cost, so Grave Troll will be in the graveyard by the time the draw trigger resolves.

But if you have something like Haggle it'll work too. Dredge is a replacement effect for a draw, so you can discard then dredge in the same action.

Or do the opposite with Cephalid Broker if a couple dredge cards are in my graveyard... tap the Broker, dredge-draw them into my hand (and self-mill), then discard them back to my graveyard, to be used again the next turn? I'm assuming the timing on both of these scenarios is good to go...?

Sorry, I didn't realize you responded before I posted that.

If you activated Cephalid, you could indeed dredge them into your hand to discard them immediately.
