Attaching auras during combat
Asked by Exzleite 11 years ago
So if I decide to attack with a creature and my opponent declares no blockers can i play Rancor or Increasing Savagery or something similar before my creature does the damage or would I hae to attach all that stuff before my combat phase?
That is a depends question.
Normal case, no. Sorcery and enchantments, along with creatures and artifacts must be played during your main phases.
Special case, there are cards around like Leyline of Anticipation and Alchemist's Refuge and some cards rules text state 'Flash' or 'Can be played at anytime an instant can be', with these effects (both cards above grant the 'flash' ability.

Rancor, like other auras, can only be cast during your main phases, like Increasing Savagery, which is a sorcery.
So, unless you have a way to cast them at instant speed (Hypersonic Dragon comes to mind for sorceries), the answer is no.

Enchantments/Auras are cast at Sorcery speed unless they say otherwise, just like your Increasing Savagery . Sorceries may only be cast during your Main Phase or your Second Main Phase.
Short answer, no, you would need to cast both of those before you attack.
If you had something like Hypersonic Dragon on the field you could cast Increasing Savagery at Instant speed and do so when no blockers were declared.
