im kinda of new i was wonderng if an artifact creature such as Vault Skirge would be affected by Doom Blade since it comes up as black

The colors of a card are given by the mana symbols in its cost. Because Vault Skirge has a black mana symbol in its cost (the black Phyrexian symbol counts as a black mana symbol), that means it's black.

A card is colorless if it meets both of the following statements.

The card has no colored mana symbols in its casting cost, as printed on the card. Counter examples: Kird Ape etc.

The card has no rules text that modifies the color of the card. Counter examples: Pact of the Titan

The only exception to this pair of rules currently is Ghostfire , because the text of the card reads "Ghostfire is colorless."

First, you determine a card's color by its mana costs. If a card has multiple colors in its cost, it is multicolored and is considered to be each of its colors individually as well.

Second, after looking at the mana cost to determine color, you apply any text abilities that set color. As was linked, Pact of the Titan is red despite having no colors in the casting cost, because it has a text affect saying it is red. This means if you use Blind Seer declaring blue on an Ashenmoor Gouger , you'll have a blue gouger until the effect wears off.

Back to the original question though, Vault Skirge is indeed black because it has a black phyrexian mana in its cost; the fact that phyrexian mana can be paid by life instead doesn't change the fact that it's black, giving the creature that color as well. Also, as a reminder of the card's color, the framing around the title, types, and rules text is blacker than a normal artifact. See Thundering Tanadon for a comparison in another color.
