An interaction with Palinchron and Mirrorworks for infinite mana without doublers?
Asked by vbcnxm_ 11 years ago
So basically, I'm trying to see if I can even have this work by some off chance.
So say I've got Palinchron in hand, Mirrorworks , 7 lands and a Sol Ring on the battlefield.
I obviously don't have a mana doubler to boost Palinchron into infinite mana, but I do have enough mana to cast Palinchron and make a copy with mirrorworks (using the Sol Ring's extra mana).
Palinchron enters the battlefield with a copy, can I tap my lands in response to the token copy entering the battlefield, for it to then untap them, then tap those lands again for a total of 14 mana, enough to return the original Palinchron, play it, and have a token copy enter the battlefield again with 1 colorless mana left over, essentially entering infinite mana (and infinite palinchron tokens)?
But say I have Mycosynth Lattice out as well, would it still work?

Yes it would. When Palinchron
enters the battlefield, both its own triggered ability, and the ability of Mirrorworks
go onto the stack. Because you control both of them, you choose in which order they will be placed there. The key is to have Mirrorworks
put there first, and Palinchron
second, so that Palinchron
resolves first. You then untap your lands and you can tap them again, before Mirrorworks
put a token onto the battlefield.
You don't even need the Sol Ring
for this to work, because the payment required by Mirrorworks
is paid when their ability resolves, which is after you've already untapped with Palinchron
. It will work like this:
1. Pay 7, play Palinchron
, put the token ability and then the untap ability onto the stack.
2. Resolve untap, tap all lands again, you have 7 mana floating.
3. Pay 2 for Mirrorworks
when its ability resolves, put a token onto the field, 5 floating mana remains.
4. Untap all lands again and tap again for mana. You have total of 12 mana.
5. Pay 4 to bounce original Palinchron
. At the end of this, you have 8 floating mana. Restarting this loop requires only 7, so you are still netting 1 mana out of it which is enough to go infinite.

I think you could use Strionic Resonator instead of Mirrorworks

maybe, instead of Mirrorworks you could try Minion Reflector ?

With Stionic Resonator I don't get tokens, and besides, Mirrorworks is here because it's in an artifact deck

Shit, nevermind, realized Palinchron has to be an artifact first for this to work.
