about confusion in the ranks

Asked by john_95 9 years ago

lets say i cast Confusion in the Ranks and my opponent has an enchantment like Rancor does he gain control of Confusion in the Ranks and i attach Rancor to one of my creatures?

Confusion in the Ranks does trigger itself when it enters the battlefield, and you may exchange control of Rancor for it. However, the Rancor will still be attached to the same creature. Gaining control of an object attached to another object does not detach the object.

No, just the Rancor . Gaining control of an attached object does not gain you control of the attached to it. Each permanent can still be controlled by another player.

Sorry, that second line should read:

"Gaining control of an attached object does not gain you control of the permanent it is attached to."

Sorry but I ddint really get it.

Lets say I have a Child of Night and my opponent has a Elvish Mystic with a Rancor on it. I cast Confusion in the Ranks and we trade. What happens with Rancor ? again sorry for asking silly questions

The Rancor is still attached to the Elvish Mystic , you just gain control of it. This may matter if you have something like sphere of saftey that counts the number of enchantments you control.

Rancor doesn't do anything for its controller directly, it does things for the creature it's attached to. But it may also matter for other Auras, like Laccolith Rig , where the controller of the Aura makes the decision, not the controller of the creature it's attached to (making it a fun Aura to cast on opponents' creatures, particularly in multiplayer).
