I dont see a add alters button. help plz/thnkx
I make my own and am trying to upload them but can't figure out how?

We've had to remove the ability for anyone to add alters because people kept using it as a personal image repository for their custom cards (instead of submitting them as an actual custom card) or the real printings of stuff they can't find.

Oh is it a request only feature now? I just got a couple custom arts in that really pull the deck together to the theme of the deck. Can I have access as well?

If there is a process to apply for alter upload rights it'd be great to point it out. I made some alters and would like to show them off as well.

Yep. I got tired of people using the alters to post missing stuff instead of asking or helping. This helps alleviate that to some extent.

Hi I'm looking for the ability to upload alters. I also would like to clarify if my intended use of the feature is allowed.
I am an alter artist and am working on altering a personal edh deck. I want to upload both alters that I have created or commissioned so the art on my tappedout decklist matches my actual deck.
I'd also like to know if everyone has access to alter art once it is uploaded or of there is an option for private use of individual images while uploading? This would help inform what permissions I'll need from artist's before uploading images of their work.

ArtistaFeo that is perfectly acceptable yes. There presently isn't a way to make an uploaded artwork private no. Atm it's basically a repository of images that anyone can access.

ArtistaFeo I am not sure exactly what you mean. It isn't exactly private if other people can view and see it. Are you asking to prevent the use of the alter for anyone else's decks but for the alter itself to be publicly accessible? Anything uploaded here is assumed to be art you have permission to use and can grant us the right to use it (as we must simply to display it). You can mark an alter itself as private in which case it cannot be used even in your own deck. Happy to accommodate your use case.

yeaGO I see, thanks for asking for clarity. Yes. I'm asking if there is an option to prevent use of images in other people's decks, but could be viewed publicly in my own decks. In regards to permissions, some artists may be uncomfortable with their work being openly accessible for anyones use, but they may be ok with it being used by the owner of the commission. I wanted to know what options were available before reaching out to the artists. As Femme_Fatale put it, "a repository of images" is a very helpful description.
Does this help clear up what I'm asking?

LordEmperor_ that is definitely not the use for it, all the pre-release promos should be in the site already. Anything prior to M15/KTK should be in the promo set, full info on how the promo set works in the site updates forum.
Anything from KTK and onward should have the pre-release treatment available. Treatments used to be called alterations on this site, so you can find them under that name in the site-updates forum to figure out more info on how to use them.
If they are not there let me know, mostly in the tappedout stickied thread related to missing/incorrect cards.

I did try that first using the f-pre tag and while it definitely works to indicate the correct version, it doesn't provide the correct image.

LordEmperor_, ah that's because we didn't bother putting the images in as it's needless busy work that can be accomplished with a treatment. WotC doesn't give out those images digitally and thus it would take too much time to deal with. The foiling effect even screws over scans. It's like lowering the saturation and increasing the contrast simultaneously.
That was the reasoning for the older cards anyways, and scryfall wasn't even around back then so it was much harder to find this stuff and tappedout didn't have someone to do this stuff full-time until Dominaria. Nowadays, Scryfall doesn't have unique images. Ever since I got Gavin and Blake to get the preview teams at WotC to release the preview images as 744x1039 instead of 265x370, they've just been applying a photoshop batch action to the original image, which unfortunately makes it heavily desaturated and contrasted, not something I can fix. It's largely no different from what we do.
The same thing applies to all foiling and stamp stuff too. Originally I thought about putting a stamp on the image itself when I went about designing the treatment system, but because of all the different frame types, showcase stuff, image sizes, and new mechanical presentations; putting something over the image would just result in too much work down the line.

Click on the folder icon at the top right, where your decklists are stored.
There's numerous buttons. The 2nd from the top on the right says "Alters"
In here, you can browse for existing alters users have made for the site, by typing in the card you are interested in. Alternatively, you can also make your own alters and save them.
When you wish to use an alter, you type the following, be it for linking a card in text, or for adding to a deck list:
So Arcane Signet will show as Arcane Signet
and will be denoted by the "A" next to the card name, as seen here.
