What determines the "competitive" percentage on the site?

I realized registered users basically could vote it higher or lower. So it isn't very objective.

I'm guessing newer cards have an impact on the calculation until a higher volume of decks with the "competitive" tag/hub start using them? I recently added 3 cards from ONE to a deck, and a couple days later the competitive meter swung by like +30%, although these cards are some of the stronger ones from the set. I figured the low amount of data on them factors into that

The exact mechanics are not exactly known. Some say the competitive meter looks at decks marked “competitive” and compares your deck to cards that commonly show up in competitive-marked decks.
Personally, I think it uses an Eldritch formula alternating between haruspicy, augury, and tyromancy, with the divination metric being decided based upon the current Zodiac sign, how long it had been since Wizards’ made its most recent PR blunder, and which of New Phyrexia’s suns appears in retrograde.
Regardless of what metric it might use, it should be taken with a grain of salt. If your number is at 30% competitive, that might be a sign there are better cards out there you could be looking at. Maybe. The further you get from the low end of the spectrum, however, the less useful of a tool it becomes.
