It's complicated.
Sign in Blood is really cheap and can be used to kill someone.
Read the Bones is more expensive and not that flexible, but grants you so much more card selection and is easier to splash.
So, I think what card you choose solely depends on the deck you're playing. Control decks want to use Read the Bones, while aggressive decks go for Sign in Blood.
I can see jamming a playset into mono black aggro. It gives the deck more gas, which can be crucial against removal heavy anti-strategies and also provide more reach, after the opponent has stabilized.
What do you think?
Although what you said is true I prefer RTB just a personal preference scry then draw is so powerful

IMO Read the Bones goes on a more control type of deck, or a multicolor one, just works better on those

I run a playset of Sign in Blood in the SB of my Mono Black Aggro deck, and it's great. I would run it mainboard if not for how tight my list is, I don't have room for it haha. For decks with lots of removal it usually comes in for Thoughtseize or Hero's Downfall vs control...

You pretty much hit the nail on the head;
RTB is for black based non-blue midrange decks,
SIB is for black based aggressive decks.
