Primers
Modern forum

I want to write a primer for something, just to flex my writing muscles and test/improve my knowledge of the format. What primers would people like to see? I know Infect and Scapeshift pretty well, but those are not decks everyone will want to know more about. The site has a lack of good information about deck archetypes, and I'd like to change that.

Modern Rock and 8Rack? Have those been done yet?

It seems logical for you to start with infect, since... you know... Glistener Elf

I'd leave writing a primer on Rock to ChiefBell or APPLE01DOJ, because they play BG more than I do.

The idea was to write something that people actually want to read about, as I understand not everyone likes Infect.

I'm sure we could do rock. I'm currently testing a junk deck. I know nothing about jund.
I don't actually know how you do primers but if you tell me how to do one I'd be happy to start.

People don't like it because it gets easy wins, or whatever. Do what you want, so long as you write an infect primer :P

Not everyone likes aristocrats either....hell not enough people even know that it can be a competitive deck! That's the point though, it's the same with infect. Teach people how to build and pilot infect. Capture their interest man

I'd be happy to see a solid infect primer to be honest. Actually I'd like to see more than one.

I'm sure plenty of people would be interested in reading Infect and Scapeshift primers. Maybe not because they'd like to play them, but also because it's good to know your opponent's strengths and weaknesses.

ChiefBell, people who have admin status to publish articles can edit the articles once they've been published.

Wait, are we supposed to go through the big man upstairs with the red name to get the go-ahead to publish primers?
September 1, 2014 3:27 p.m.
I would like to do one but if it's a complete hassle to edit then I can't be bothered. Epochalyptik - can you advise?

To publish anything, you have to go through him :P

I'd love a primer on Infect from you, GlistenerAgent!

If an 8rack primer is still needed, I'd be more than happy to make one. I have tons of experience with it.

I was kicking around doing a Jund primer video, since I play Jund exclusively in modern and legacy.

It'd be nice it'd there were like teams to do primers

There was an idea to do Primers at one point, but the team itself wound up not functioning. At this point, since it's past Modern season, I've been playing more Legacy than just about everything else, but I'd be happy to help out anyone working on primers.

Sure, though you'd basically have an article for a description.

I'd love to do a Knight primer, but i'm not sure if there's really much demand for it... and that seems like MetaphysicalxProdigy's thing as well.

Alrighty then. I'm going to start work on an Infect primer, and unless anybody else wants to write their own I'll create one for Scapeshift as well. The primers will be in the descriptions of my own decks, so that I can keep them up to date.
slovakattack, even if there's not a ton of demand for it you should still create one. That one guy who wants to make a Knights deck will be grateful.

Just wanted to say to anyone reading this and thinking they want to do a primer. Please do intense amounts of researching and editting before putting out out there. Would also help if you collaborate with one of the people who have expressed an interest in an archetype that way we don't get multiple primers with conflicting information

GlistenerAgent: That's fair. I need to get classes first, though. Due to a clerical error, my registration for all my college courses was redacted. Oh, and classes start tomorrow. OH HOW I LOVE BUREAUCRACY!
Sigh.

Thank you for mentioning me slovakattack. This is a great idea, i'd love to do a knights primer. It's about T1.5 competitive if played right, and there are tons of builds one could take. Years of experience against all of the popular modern archetypes would help with a strong write-up. I could list junk knights as one of the options available in the primer if you would like, Slovak (and obviously give you full credit and a link to your list). I could probably conjure up a solid death and taxes primer, too.
I'm going to need a bit of time to do this, but it looks like it might take a bit of time for everything to get approved and running anyways. I also have school tomorrow (in less than 7 hours), my first day of law school. In the morning i'll be shaking the hand of the Chief Justice of Canada's federal court, and yet here I am on Tapped. Time for bed, night guys. XD

vampirelazarus hugs I feel your pain, bro.
MetaphysicalxProdigy: I wouldn't mind, although I -really- need to clean it up before having you present it in a primer, the Vials need to go, etc. I'm unimpressed with how it is at the moment. Considering doing more of a hard recursion thing with it.

Primers are done via the deck folder descriptions. The folder itself then links to the shell of the deck idea, and potential deck archetypes. Ask Epoch if he still knows where the primer thread is.

ive seen you post heavily on infect. You seem to know more about that than anyone. maybe start there?
