MTGO infinite loops
Modern Deck Help forum

Hi. I'm new to MTGO. Yesterday I faced a guy who started some kind of "infinite loop". I wasn't even able to enter a turn anymore nor cast an instant! I was so stunned I didn't (stupidly) take note of the cards involved. But the guy seemed to be able to get endless extra turn and copy the same 1/1 token each time. Is there a way to counter this or is there something I don't understand in the interface of the game?

You are able to cast an instant while they are making the tokens. Before the token making ability resolves, you have priority, so you could have cast your instant then to try and disrupt it.
Also the Splinter Twin combo doesn't give them extra turns. They just get to make infinite tokens and kill you with them.

Does that mean that if I doesn't have an instant in my hand the game is automaticaly lost?

If you don't have a way to interact with them creating infinite hasty attackers, then yes that would mean that you lose. Splinter Twin is one of the best known combo decks in Modern because of how good it is.
I would recommend having some good sideboard cards to interact with their combo. Cards like Spellskite and Rending Volley are great ways of interacting with it.

When I watch the replay, I see that I never have the opportunity to cast an instant. The guy tapped and untapped and put endless tokens while I never got any chance to cast an instant!

Did you click F6 by any chance? That would make you pass priority at all opportunities until the end of the turn

No F6 but I guess it's because I clicked "yield until end of turn"?

In MTGO, if you go to Account > Game History, you can watch a replay of the game and find out the what the combo was; we'll be able to help a lot more if we know that.
