Hello all you fellow cube drafters!

I was wondering what your opinions on this years Vintage Cube are! I've drafted it a couple of times now (you may have even noticed me in a draft or two, my MTGO username is themtgnerd) and I know what I think of it, but I want to start a sort of general discussion about it. I'll start with what I've noticed, and then I'll leave it open to you guys. You can state whether you agree or disagree with my judgements, tell me I'm a total idiot, or just watch where the discussion goes! So without further ado, here is what I've noticed:

First, Storm is a trap

I know it's been said a million times before, but this is certainly the first thing I noticed about it. If done right, storm is really strong, but make one mistake while drafting and you're stuck with a nonfunctional deck. There just isn't enough support for storm. It either works or doesn't. Personally, I would highly advise against drafting storm.

Second, White Weenie is super strong

Here's where people might start disagreeing with me. I personally have found that when I force white weenie, I win. I can take a lousy white card out of a pack with power in it, force white throughout the draft, and then power through the opponent with...well...power. From Thalia, Guardian of Thraben to Kytheon, Hero of Akros  Flip, white is super strong.

Third, Mono-Red is weaker than normal.

Normally is the Holiday Cube or other cubes throughout the year, Mono-Red or Green can be quite good. In the Vintage Cube, this doesn't seem to be the case. The other decks are just too powerful.

Fourth, Combos are (not) the way to go.

I see a lot of articles which advise people to take whatever can combo, and then figure out the rest later. This doesn't make sense to me. How is a forced combo deck better than a well drafted, synergistic deck? I don't understand. From what I've noticed, while the thrown together combo deck may sometimes win, a well constructed, strong deck (yes, even fair ones) take the majority of games.

Fifth, Blue

Yes, blue is strong in this cube. Then again, when isn't blue strong? You can build a strong blue deck with the right pieces fairly easily. I personally think this is a flaw in the cube. Blue should NOT be the dominant color. There shouldn't even BE a dominant color!

So there you have it! That's what I've noticed from drafting this cube. Now it's up to you. What do you think about the cube? Good or bad, please comment below. Also, yes I know I have very similar ideas to some other people who have written articles on sites. I realize this. However, I agree with them on some points and disagree on others. I'm not simply copying their work. Thank you, and enjoy the discussion!

I want holiday cube back. Greater Gargadon didn't do anything to deserve being cut. It was the main reason the land destruction deck was so good
