Demolish? Really?

Twice when playing Theros Draft on Magic Online, I have had my opponent play Demolish on one of my lands. Just to be clear, that's two different opponents in two different drafts. Needless to say, I found this very odd, and not very productive for my opponent. Am I missing something? Has anyone else had this happen to them? Or even sided in Demolish just to kill lands?
Or even just seen any other "odd" plays?

They built their deck wrong, plain and simple. Only, only, excuse for playing that card is having no other answer to one of the god weapons, and that's only in games 2/3.
If Demolish made the main deck, their deck was built wrong.

I got a land Bramblecrush ed in game one of my last FNM. Which was standard. Who mainboards that? But to your point, they were probably just forcing red, but didn't have enough playables. Demolish isn't terrible if your other choices are Satyr Rambler and Boulderfall . If these games were after game one, maybe they decided land/artifact destruction should be sided in.

Like Unforgivn_II said, they probably were just trying to force red and put it in there for that reason. They could have also been trying to anticipate things like the god's weapons being prevalent and mainboarded it for the artifact removal, then had nothing else to play and no artifacts to destroy so they did it on your land. Another possibility is that the round before they played you, someone had artifacts and/or something like Unknown Shores for mana fixing and it was sidedboarded in against them and they forgot to remove it before your games started.

I played a Theros draft yesterday and sideboarded in 2x Demolish because my opponent drafted a Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx . Won me the match because he pulled that thing in every game and was depending on it. I wouldn't mainboard it though.

good to know I love land destruction... and that seems very handy!

If they played second it is a way to "catch up" if it is played t4 so now you are a land behind essentially. It is a tad lackluster but can be productive if it is done asap. They may also have had nothing else to do
