Unfoil a card?

I love the new retro framed cards,
But I hate foils.
Any ideas on "un-foiling" a card? Is it even possible haha
I believe the foiling is just a layer on top of the printed artwork on a card. There are YouTube videos detailing how to remove this layer, but you’re taking your card’s life in your hands if you attempt this. It could easily turn out very badly. If you’re dead set on doing this, I’d advise practicing on some cheap junk foils first...

The foiling process permeates the entire card - there is a foil layer on the back of the card, the art is printed atop that using different paints than normal cards, then there is an additional varnish layer on top of that to bring out the shine.
As such, there really is no way to defoil a card without ruining it.

Why not just buy the non-foil version of the retro frame?

yeah, sell the foil copy for more money than the normal copy, then buy the normal copy, laugh in profits. :p

You could also try using certain sleeves that have a more opaque front. They can really tone down the brightness on foils, sometimes even making them indistinguishable from nonfoils. Of course, it's hard to actually find a sleeve that accomplishes this while also fitting other needs. Inverted Dragonshield Smoke inners, for instance, will greatly reduce glare but may make it hard for others to even see your cards. I do agree that it would probably be easier to just sell or trade the foil for a nonfoil version while pocketing the difference.

you cant un-foil but if the issue you have is curling i suggest keeping them in a stored box in stacks and throwing in some silicon packs to suck out any moisture and keep them dry. with the exception of commander legends collector foils, I havnt had an issue with any curling from any other set with this method.
