The old Suq'Ata Assassin... infect?

I dug up an old Suq'Ata Assassin ... and he's got some interesting text. Infect... but not really. It only applies to players. Unless, in some update his text changed.... and i'm not sure how to check this. I assume he was printed prior to infect becoming a key term.
Trying for an unblockable poison deck, he's basically a much worse Blighted Agent , but about the only other unblockable poison creature going (that i'm aware of).

Just to clarify, poison counters added by Suq'Ata Assassin do stack with those created by Infect damage.

All the older cards that hand out poison counters do so with triggered abilities, not infect. The weird thing about them is that they don't all have the same trigger condition. A few of them trigger when they aren't blocked (Suq'Ata Assassin ), a few others trigger when they deal combat damage to the defending player (Virulent Sliver ), but most trigger when they deal any kind of damage to a player (Marsh Viper ). Even then, they only give a fixed number of poison counters instead of counters equal to the damage dealt (this is why Crypt Cobra is so terrible - he'll kill the opponent with damage before the poison kicks in).

Serpent Generator is another old card related to poison counters. I used one in a token-spawning deck once that used Fear to get the snakes through.
Basically, Infect is, more or less, poison counters + wither (as in Harvest Gwyllion ).

you are pretty much correct, other than it isn't infect, as it doesn't add -1/-1 counters to creatures.
This card came from when poison counters were just invented, before the nasty keyword that is Infect was invented...
