Okay, this card is amazing. It's a 2/1 for 1 g or w. Early alpha/beta players would kill to get a card this good. I'm just a little confused why so many people avoid using it...Any thoughts?
Well, people still tried to get a Rancor on a hasty goblin turn 1 with Chancellor of the Forge , STILL AS, I might mention as a 3/1<---. I just don't understand, it's such an aggro card. Even if you're playing against Izzet, and they burn it off, the burn doesn't get brought back by Snapcaster Mage

Well with a lot of good spells with flashback in Standard, it becomes an issue of not wanting to hose yourself with your flashback spells or deny yourself those good cards by not playing them in favor of the Dryad.

Well, you've got to be running green or white to even play that. Is there any good flashbacks that I'm missing? I apologize if I sound rude, it just doesn't make sense...

Lingering Souls is among the best flashback cards in Standard and the deck seen running it most right now is BRGW Reanimator gets hosed badly by Dryad Militant Which is of course the reason it doesn't run it.
I have seen some BG or BRG Zombies lists running it though.

The truth is, this card just isn't good enough for aggro. It's a vanilla 2/1 with an ability that may or may not be good. People haven't played Elite Vanguard in a long, long time. I'd rather be playing a turn 1 mana dude instead of this guy.

My best guess is that being a 2/1 is easy to kill that people don't think nothing of it just shrug it off or when annoyed by it decide to get rid of it
