Can you steal Sphinx's Rev this way?

Opponent casts Sphinx's Revelation
You cast Reverberate to copy it
After that, you let your Reverberate(Sphinx's Rev copy) resolve and draw cards
Now, am I able to counter my opponent's Sphinx's Revelation after my copy resolved? I would think so since it hasn't resolved yet

Or just use Wild Ricochet and roflcopter your way to the bank.

@Nigeltastic: Sphinx's Revelation does not target, so Wild Ricochet is just a more expensive Reverberate

Yes you can. Reverberate merely gives you the option to choose new targets if the spell has one, but that is a second ability after the one that says "copy target spell". So, no, you won't be able to choose a target because the copied spell doesn't have one, but you'll still be able to copy Sphinx's Revelation and since that copy is controlled by you, you will draw the cards and gain the life.

@opiewan18 With Reverberate , that is not an issue. "You may choose new targets for the copy". It's not necessary at all for there to be a target.

Interesting, so you can't redirect "you" text as it isn't specifically targeting? Good to know.

Right. A spell or effect only targets if it specifically says "target" (the one exception is that Aura spells on the stack have a target), and "you" doesn't mean "target".

Yes you are. Since the original copy has not resolved on the stack yet, you copy will hit the stack first, the you have an opportunity to respond before the original copy resolves. So if you do draw that magical counterspell you were looking for, you may use it.
