Hello, im aware about alterations on mtg, it has to be recognizable anf it really lies on the head judge. What if i have force of will from alliance set and alter it to a judge promo set, will it still be legal since technically its still recognizable. If not then dang, i hate seeing that dude in force of will holding stuff in the pit of fire.....ps. Idk if this is the right thread to ask. I think its appropriate because its misc after all

I would also paint over the artist's name, since the beatiful of Terese Nielsen is no more.
IMO, this does not anything to the important info on the card and if it does not make it too thick, I don't think there will be a problem.

The example you provided is legal, don't paint over the artists name though that's rude. You can change the art, the ruling on it being recognizable means that all text and mana costs are not changed or obscured

@Boza: When you said:
"...since the beatiful of Terese Nielsen is no more."
...I took that to mean "Terese Nielsen died." It took me a second to figure out you meant "Terese Nielsen's artwork has been covered up."
You scared the shit out of me and I had to Google search to check the news.
I also just found out Terese Nielsen is a women during said search. I've been pronouncing her name wrong this entire time, with no one correcting me. We've all been saying it "Tie-reese," like Tyrese. It's "Tear-reese," like in Teresa.
My mind has exploded now that I know the promo Hanna, Ship's Navigator and original Fact or Fiction are self-portraits. For those that don't know what I mean:

Well, damn, I did not mena it like that, I should phrase things better. There is a lot more hidden thing in Magic art than first meets the eye and Terese Nielsen does a really good job at that. For example, the small details on cards like Enter the Infinite are incredible.

I really do not know how you can alter it the other version, since you have to alter the set symbol, frame, art and foil it, which is a heck of a lot of unnecessary work, but if you do, it is still up to the head judge for any alternation. Heck, you may show up with Squirrel of will and still it can be legal.
The only parts not subject to alteration for the purposes of legality are name, text, and CMC +/- Type line and P/T, since these are what matter on a card.
