if I only need to pick up a couple right now

is it worth it to get a couple of verdant catacomb and marsh flat right now with all of the speculation that zendikar fetches see a reprint sometime fairly soon? It's not a must have right now, it's not like i'm running out to a tournament next weekend or anything. However, their price has been slowly declining so now doesn't seem like a bad time to pick up one or two. Like I said I don't need them immediately so do you think it's worth it, or should I just wait till we get close to rotation to pick them up? That way we'll know whats in all of khans, the final core set, and see spoilers for the next set and know if a reprint is coming in the immediate future. Would that be too late to get them?
They could come up in the next khans set, but who knows. If you don't need them then hold off. Although if it's for your first modern deck you do need Verdant Catacombs

i thought someone confirmed that all ten fetches would be in dragons of tarkir

Nothing can be confirmed for Dragons of Tarkir yet. The fact they are putting the Khans fetches in Fate Reforged makes many peoples theories a lot weaker. So I'm speculating MMA2, which won't bring the prices down much, but maybe a little bit, since it will be a semi-limited print run.

If they're not necessary or not needed right now, I'd wait and see, they're still pretty expensive.

Yes, but they're also at some of the lowest prices they've been at in a long time. They peaked around $60 USD on tcg in April of last year and they've been on a slow and steady decline every since to a median of $30 USD now. They may drop a couple more dollars but there will probably be another spike around the same time this year as people start to pick up modern staples and prepare. If there is a reprint then it should have a similar effect as the khans printing did and make them more accessible and if not then they could stay high with the next price spike.
Also I don't think that the Khans fetches being included in the Fate Reforged packs means there won't be fetches in Dragons. I don't know if there will be or not. There is a rare chance that you get it in your land slot or one of the gain life lands, it's not like every other pack is going to have them and not every pack that has one is going to have a fetch. They also said it was to help mana fixing because of the unique draft structure of this block. I suspect that more often than not when you have a dual land in the land slot it'll be a gain life land. So if they included the other 5 fetches in dragons it not likely that you'll have multiple Khans and Dragons fetches being opening in draft. Instead, you'd be more likely to get a gain life land to help with the mana fixing so they don't need to print mana rocks like Mardu Banner or another set of tri lands in the 3rd set in order to make mana fixing possible in limited. Instead of 3 or possible 4 color decks in limited, I think this will change things up to more 2 color decks with some 3 color decks being options if you see the right cards. I just really think the Khans fetches in Fate Reforged announcement had more to do with the limited environment than what it says about what may be in the 3rd set.

I'd be flat out shocked if they put fetches in Modern Masters. They need to be reprinted in a full print run, and I don't see any reason why Wizards would throw them into a set that is both limited and going to be in high demand.
I think there's a good chance that they'll be in DTK given that it forms its own pseudo block with M16; they will need some kind of mana fixing for the post KTK standard. Making it symmetrical (Zen Fetches in DTK; Allied Pains in M16) makes most sense to me, but they could opt to go in a different route and save the Zen Fetches for the fall set.

jr92_2000 I think the opposite, I am certain we will see a fetch reprint soon, most likely in MM2. Verdant Catacombs and Misty Rainforest were among the most commonly counterfeited cards that brought about the new boarders. I'm fairly sure we will see both Zen fetches & a Goyf reprint (again) fairly soon.

That being said I own them and I've seen them skyrocket in price and dramatically drop. The whole time I was playing with them and had no intention to sell so I didn't really care ...still don't care if they get reprinted. If they're holding u back from playing your deck at events, I'd probably just buy them though.

The reason they want to print them in MMA2 and not standard is because they need a reason to have people want to pay a 10 dollar price point for a single pack
January 4, 2015 6:13 p.m.
The reason people are paying $10 is because it's a guaranteed foil in every pack. Thats pretty much reason enough. Besides most preorders where I live have already sold out with packs going for $30 each, and thats without any mention of a single card in the set besides Emrakul. Nope, the fetch lands being in that set is not necessary for it to sell whatsoever.
I'm fairly sure the fetches will come to standard. Would be silly for them not to.

If you wait until the fetchland speculation goes away, you will be waiting forever, or until they get reprinted, as there will always be fetchland speculation. I believe in is very unlikely they will be in MM15 or Dragons of Tarkir, so you might as well get them now. If you want to wait until they are reprinted, that's fine too.
January 4, 2015 6:44 p.m.
Not so much waiting till they get reprinted.... just waiting to see if their is going to be one in the immediate future. They'll be much easier to get if they are in anything released in the next year, however that could mean sacrificing paying a higher price than they are now if there is no reprint in the immediate future. I believe there is far more reason to think they will be printed sooner rather than later but that doesn't mean being printed later isn't a possibility. There's just no physical evidence to point either way, only speculation. That makes this a tough decision, because I'd rather get them for the $25-30 USD they're at now than the $60 USD that they were last modern season if they don't get reprinted. But if they do get reprinted then I'd rather get the for the $10-15 the reprints would be, ya know what I mean.

Another alternative is to use off color fetches? Modern has been doing it for a long time. Bloodstained Mire could be your stand in for Verdant Catacombs. If they don't reprint okay, u don't have to spring for the catacombs, u'll still have consistent mana with 8 fetches. U won't be able to pull basics as much but it'll still work. & If they do reprint, cool upgrade your decks fetches to what they should be. You're in Abrupt Decay colors so Blood Moon isn't as menacing of a threat.
January 4, 2015 8:48 p.m.
I guess that is a possibility, as i do have a playset of Bloodstained Mire. For their price now though I'm beginning to lean more to the side of picking up a couple now. That way I at least have a couple to help the deck. I know they'll be reprinted and the more I look at it the only way I'm really making a bad investment right now is if that reprint is in the next year. Any later than that and the ability to use them now i think would out weigh any extra cost I pay now vs when they do finally get reprinted.

There's good speculation and argument that the ZEN fetches are going to be reprinted in MMA 2015, which is still a ways off, but it seems doubtful they will be printed in a Standard legal set with unlimited print any time soon.
