The commander aside, would a a pauper commander be any fun? One commander and 99 commons?

I think if you find Pauper a neat or fun idea then sure Pauper Commander could be neat. I'd say the commander should be able to be uncommon or common and then the rest has to be common.

There might already be some rules/format for this out there. Lots of little used formats always seem to pop up.

Make sure to have folks who want to do this though...

I have one pauper EDH deck, its fun to play but more than that it was a really interesting deckbuilding challenge.

Yes yes yes. I have so many pEDH decks. They are all fun. They all hold their own too

So, with pedh, any creature can be a commander or is that just your deck?

In Pedh your cmdr has to be uncommon and has to be a creature.

Your lifetotal is 30

Cmdr damage is 18

Every card in the 99 has to be common at some point either in paper or online.

Pedh games with 3 other pedh decks came be lengthy games where the board stalls out. That's my only complaint.

Are there any broad meta considerations in Pauper EDH? What makes a card, deck, or commander a good or bad option? I've looked around a little bit online, but I've only found articles and threads with titles like Pauper Commander Best Decks and cPDH Tier List without any explanation of what makes them good.

I assume it's roughly parallel to traditional EDH in considering ramp, draw, and control. I lined out a deck Whither Blooms the Darkness? pEDH that I haven't had the opportunity to actually use yet, and I'd like to get some feedback. Could someone please help with this?

I have one Pauper Commander deck. It was a lot of fun to build, and actually competes well against non-pauper battlecruisers and mid-range decks.

A Night At The Mausoleum 2 - DePietro & Tormod

I find it is a great way to build on a budget while also having a lot of fun exploring cards that do not usually see any play.

Yes, because even the strongest decks are not that strong. In my pod everybody has at least one pEDH deck (Tatyova, Benthic Druid, Shirei, Shizo's Caretaker etc.) they all put a lot of time and energy into building their deck. I just threw a bunch of Commons into Thalisse, Reverent Medium, anything I could find within 15 minutes, that makes tokens.

The games are a blast. They are fun, straightforward, low-power, classic. Wins feel much more deserving, combos are so rare and hard to pull off that nobody gets salty about them. I want to build another one with Garna, Bloodfist of Keld and I am putting in cards that I would otherwise never even consider looking at.

You know how often it is said that Magic has a pool of 30+ thousand cards. That is nonsense, because only a few thousand are actually playable. The rest is just noise. With pEDH, many of those forgotten cards suddenly come back to life. And it’s so cheap, the total shipping cost is usually higher than the deck
