Colors of Famous Fictional Characters

Players of this game enjoy speculating about the colors of fictional characters outside of it, and, with WotC soon to be making products that depict characters from other franchises, I would like to start a thread for exactly that purpose, for us to discuss what colors famous fictional characters would be if they were to appear in this game.

First, I shall begin with Marvel and DC comics, since those are the franchises about which people ask most frequently.

Mark Rosewater has said that Spiderman is white/green, but I must respectfully disagree with that assessment, as I believe that he is red/blue, because he (Peter Parker, to be more specific) demonstrates the creative talent and imagination that is characteristic of that color combination, plus, his costume is red and blue, as well.

Ra’s al Ghul, however, is definitely white/green, since he is usually depicted as wishing to eliminate humanity to preserve the environment, but not out of any sense of malice or hatred for humanity.

Poison Ivy is mono-green, for obvious reasons.

The Incredible Hulk may have green skin, but I would categorize him as mono-red, since rage is his most significant trait; his human form, Bruce Banner, however, is likely mono-blue or blue/green, to contrast him with his alter ego.

I am not familiar with Thor, Loki, Steve Rogers, and Tony Stark from the original comics, so I shall use their depictions from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, instead.

Steve (a.k.a. Captain America) is red/white/blue, which should be entirely self-explanatory. Tony was originally red/black/blue, but later lost the black and was only red/blue. Thor is mono-red or possibly red/white, and Loki is definitely black and blue.

I would say that Venom is either mono-black or possibly black/green, partially due to his color and also because he usually is portrayed as being amazingly resilient and difficult to kill, a key trait of black/green.

Carnage, Joker, Harley Quinn, and Deadpool are all definitely red/black, since the first three are all fond of wanton violence and general mayhem, and Deadpool is a rare example of a heroic black/red character.

Superman is either mono-white or white/blue, since he seems to be fond of law and order. I would say that Batman is black/blue, since he prefers to operate at night, uses darkness and shadows to intimidate his enemies, and is also very intelligent and resourceful, making him a rare example of a heroic black/blue character.

I would say that Wolverine is either mono-red or red/green, since he is usually portrayed as a fearsome warrior who also prefers to live in peace in quiet and secluded areas, away from large cities and what most people would consider to be “civilization.”

Professor Xavier is mono-blue or possibly white/blue because of his telepathic abilities and being the founder of the X-Men.

Jean Grey is red/blue, because she represents the duality of emotion and rationality, as reflected with her powers.

Cyclops is probably mono-white, because he is very stern as the leader of the X-Men.

Hank McCoy (a.k.a. Beast) is blue/green because he is both a highly intelligent scientist but also a fierce fighter when he needs to be.

Now, I shall mention several Star Wars characters, since I am very fond of that franchise, as well.

Luke was likely mono-red or red-green in A New Hope, because he was fairly neutral and uninvolved in the war, but I believe that he eventually shifted toward being at least partially white, since he was a powerful user of the light side of the force.

Leia is likely mono-white, since she seems to be fond of exercising authority over others, but a strong argument could be made for her being red/white toward the end of the original trilogy, since she was always the heart of the group, in my mind, balancing the various characters and their personalities.

Han was red/black at the beginning of the original trilogy (another rare example of a heroic black/red character), because he was concerned about himself before anyone else, but I believe that he shifted to mono-red by the end of the original trilogy.

Anakin was mono-red as a child, shifted to red/black as a young adult, due to being filled with rage and hatred, and then, as Darth Vader, was either mono-black or black/white, because of his desire to bring order to the galaxy.

Darth Maul was red/black, obviously.

Palpatine was black/white; the black should be entirely self-explanatory, but the white was because he was a totalitarian dictator who ruled with supreme authority.

I am not certain about Count Dooku, since he is more difficult to categorize; very little about him seems to be red or black, so he could be an example of a villainous white/blue character.

Grand Moff Tarkin was mono-white, showing the more strict and totalitarian tendences of that color.

Obi-Wan and Yoda were likely mono-white during the prequel trilogy, as they steadfastly and strictly upheld the ideals and rules of the Jedi order, but shifted to either mono-green or green/white in the original trilogy, since they were both living in harmony with the land at that point and no longer cared for rules and traditions.

To change to another franchise, Doc Emmett Brown from Back to the Future is definitely red/blue, which should be obvious to anyone who has watched those movies.

I think that I have mentioned a sufficient number of characters for the present time, so I shall now open this discussion to other users, to see what input they have it give. What does everyone else say about this? What are the colors of famous fictional characters?

Throwing out a couple that I once came up with.

Harry Potter, from the eponymous series, is , being impulsive, prone to strong emotions, and a tendency to ignore authority, whether legitimate or not.

Ash Ketchum, of the Pokémon anime, is . He cares for and protects his friends and often strangers, and has a strong sense of justice. He is impulsive and has a natural empathy with wildlife, and tends to struggle in academic environments.

DemonDragonJ I respectfully disagree with a couple of your interpretations.

Most versions of Poison Ivy are . She has no interest in anything but plants and herself, and is willing, almost eager, to manipulate others into serving her with no thought for their well-being.

Venom is the predatory and brutish aspects of . He has a certain, if unstable, sense of morality, and is driven primarily by a desire to be physically stronger, but without showing the particular ambition that indicates. Venom is an opportunistic hunter, but isn't especially parasitic (in the technical sense) or self-serving, any more than any other predator.

I think there's too much costume color meddling with your assessment of the superheroes.

Batman lives in service of the city and has a strict rule to obey. There are barely any selfish motivations involved, are there? Maybe I'm not versed enough in comics. I agree with the blue, but black because he operates at night? I'd pitch him blue/white, or maybe esper because of the affinity for tools and gadgets.

Spiderman red/blue because the suit is red and blue? Venom is black because he's black?

Those are art directions, not color wheel philosophies.

You're close with Hulk though, in magic he probably already exists as Civilized Scholar  Flip

plakjekaas, I believe that Spiderman is red/blue because his is creative and inventive, a passionate thinker.

I agree with plakjekaas, there's too much costume color influence.

I believe Spider-Man is more defined by his eagerness to protect his loved ones, and his community, rather than his methods; hence being your "Friendly Neighborhood" Spider-Man. GW seems much more fitting than RU, even taking into account his creativity.

In addition, I don't think Captain America is RWU 'for obvious reasons', I could buy RW due to his sense of justice, but there's nothing pushing him into U as far as I can tell.

As mentioned before, in what way would Batman use black mana? His unwillingness to do evil in service of good is his defining character trait.

SteelSentry, Batman operates at night and uses darkness to intimidate others; black is not automatically evil, in this game.

Spider-Man would be blue green. Blue for intelligence and green to represent his inner personal growth

Hulk would be green red. Red should need no explanation green because the hulk grows from his human self.

But for characters that have had multiple writers and have multiple different story lines they can probably be wubrg.

shadow63, I can certainly understand how Goku would be red and white, but how is he black? Is it because he enjoys fighting so much that he does not care about the consequences, as long as he has an enjoyable fight?

Calvin and Hobbes is my favorite newspaper comic, so I shall mention its main characters, in this post.

Calvin himself is red/black, because he is self-centered, impulsive, and rarely thinks of the consequences of his actions before he acts, but he is not evil; he does genuinely care for others, but he shows that side of his personality only on occasion, so he is an example of a non-villainous red/black character.

Hobbes is blue/green; blue, because he is rational and analytical where Calvin is passionate and reckless, and green, because he is still a wild animal.

Calvin's parents and Rosalyn, his babysitter, are all likely mono-white, demonstrating the harsh and strict aspects of that color, because they are all fond of order and structure, even if they must suppress the freedoms of others to institute it.

Susie Derkins is likely mono-blue or possibly white/blue, because she seems to be very calm and rational, and is fond of learning and acquiring new knowledge.

Moe, the bully, is definitely mono-black, because he torments Calvin for no reason beyond his own sadistic enjoyment.

An x-men I'm sorry to see missed, Gambit would be black, and red. Black due to his thievery, ambition, time as death, time spent in the thieves guild, and his gambling. Red because of his emotional nature and his desire to stand by what he has said and do what is right regardless of the law

Wendithewendigo, Gambit is an excellent example of another black/red character who is a hero (or, depending upon the portrayal, an antihero).
