Modern 2 Case Event —June 4, 2017

R1 Vs Burn 0-2 loss got pretty blown out here, i just didnt get much of anything from draws and just got out paced both games.

R2 Vs Burn Again... 2-1 not going to lie, got lucky in the last game he got mana flooded and was unable to come back from a turn 3 Lilly

R2 Vs Grix Death Shadow 2-0 This is just a solid match up for me, Fatal Push and lilly just make this match up really pretty easy.

R4 Vs Storm 2-0 Game one he missed lethal by one and ended up getting killed by racks then in game 2 just picked apart his hand to an easy second game.

R5 Vs Grix Delver/Control 2-0 over all just a pretty easy match up, i was able to get targeted discard and destroy lands with Smallpox

R6 Draw to top 8

Round one in top 8 vs Living ends. 0-2 game one i was unsure what he was playing and fired off a mind wrench where he discarded 2 creatures and cycled Street Wraiths then proceeded to hit me for 16 on turn 3. game 2 kept a good hand but only with one land, never drew another.

Over all i needed to make some changes to the side but the main deck ran really well. And i am pleased with the performance.

Ended up 7th overall with 48 players.

Why three Urborg? I feel like the downside of drawing two weighs more than the possible upside of tapping a Mutavault for black mana, or am I missing something obvious here?

Stammetje91 you sac lands if you cast Smallpox and Funeral Charm can give something swampwalk if needed. other then that, it is just always nice to have your Mutavaults tap for black because you always want black.

Fair enough. :)

It's a pretty low cost deck with a lot of double B mana costs. I can see why you would want to run several.
