Honestly this design feels Dimir.

My above challenge still holds. Make a card on the lines of Melancholy or Mana Tithe. An exact color shift of another card that makes sense within the card's color identity.

Well, first check out all the planeshifted/colorshifted cards from planar chaos, such as Melancholy, which is the black Thirst, and Gaea's Anthem, the green Glorious Anthem. I dont know about older cards like Pyroblast, but start there.

Melancholy is meh, i'd rather spend w to kill, rather than the 3 to tap and boost goyf. Primal Cocoon is interesting, but unless I play it on a creature the turn I play the creature, it slows me down
