Sideboard

Maybeboard

A different take on the Saproling theme.

So there I was, just a few months into my edh career. I had gone big on this one - with dragon shield sleeves, a fresh green deck box from amazon, both primal vigor and doubling season - I was ready. I had been crafting, iterating, and formulating for what felt like weeks. No hapless soul in my pod was prepared for what I was about to bring to the table that weekend...

Fast forward to that weekend and the board was set: A full line of thallids, a thick line of pumped saprolings, limitless utility - everything seemed to be set for victory. That was until... the board wipes hit, the doubling season got countered, and I realized all of hard work amounted to just a few worthless mushrooms.

I was determined to do better. Which brings me to my own version of Slimefoot - Staxprolings.

Please note, that the title "Staxprolings" is more cleaver than it is accurate to the decks purpose. Yes, we do run stax cards such as Static Orb, Contamination, and Smokestack, but the decks main wincon is more of a snap combo than a slow burn.

Playing saprolings, and more importantly playing Slimefoot leaves us with a few key feature that we can take advantage of. In my eyes, these are: - Consistent creature generation - An infinite mana sink - Good use of colorless mana

Our main goal is to set up our taxing effects, and then use our tokens to exponentially grow!

True to stax fashion, this deck specialized in restricting your opponents resources, all while bolstering your own through the use of slimefoot's saproling production active.
