KBK7101 on Sengir and Kediss - Dark Privilege (v1.6)
dlombart - Sadly, I haven't had as much time recently to play as much as I'd like, so the deck has only seen a game or two but it has seen LOTS of solitaire/goldfishing/playtesting. The deck ran extremely well (even in a loss) in the last game it actually saw which is detailed in the Games Played tab in the description. It should be mentioned, however, that my "meta" just consists of the decks I have on here that my brothers and I pit against each other. I think my decks are relatively light on removal when compared most other commander decks these days, so protection for Sengir is probably priority number one when building your own deck. Lightning Greaves and Swiftfoot Boots are the most obvious choices. Blessing of Leeches, Consecrated by Blood, Skeletal Grimace, Soul Channeling and Molting Snakeskin are some more auras similar to Dark Privilege that might be worth checking out.

Pretty similar to my own shadow deck, you may want to compare for ideas! :D
Specifically, Edge of Divinity has some alternatives that are strictly better for this deck, like Predator's Gambit . Molting Snakeskin might also be a nice alternative. I also removed Bonesplitter and Dauthi Marauder for being too expensive, but all alternatives for the latter are easier to block.

Unnatural Endurance and Molting Snakeskin are also probably better then Boon of Erebos .

Awesome deck, Damia is one of my favorite commanders. I specifically bought her in spanish because I feel like she just belongs in a south american temple deep in the jungle. I've been thinking about making my Damia deck less of a power deck and more flavorful and this has definitely given me some ideas. So here are some suggestions: Hedonist's Trove Gaze of the Gorgon (surprised that it wasn't already included) Mystic Snake Molting Snakeskin Also, just to remove some of the non-flavorful spots maybe you could add in some other cool looking half-beast creatures like Nighthowler that represent the children of Echidna (while she wasn't a gorgon she was depicted as being half-snake)

I'd switch out Door of Destinies for Favorable Winds, take out Argothian Enchantress for Alluring Siren, maybe try to include Hypnotic Siren, Dulcet Sirens & Siren of the Silent Song too? I'm not sure I like the aura-theme for the deck, just a straight up Siren tribal with a couple spells would be fine. If you want to play some auras I'd recommend you play Aqueous Form, Curiosity, Curious Obsession, Molting Snakeskin or Unholy Strength. I'd also get rid of Sol Ring since it kind of goes against what casual decks are about, there's a reason it's even banned in Legacy...that's just my opinion though.

You could improve it a lot just by optimizing the cards you have. For example, all your hand disruption cards can be replaced with a combination of Thoughtseize, Inquisition of Kozilek, or even Collective Brutality. Researching, and finding the best version of each card can go a long way to improving any deck. Unfortunately, better cards tend to be more expensive, but if you can afford it you'll notice the difference.
Also, in an infect deck you typically want fewer creatures, more pump spells. So I'd cut Contagious Nim, and Bontu's Monument in favor of more removal/pump/hand disruption spells.
Finally, as a general deck building rule for beginners: to start a deck out pick 9 cards that you'd like to base the deck around. Run 4 of each, + 24 lands and BAM deck. From there you can shuffle things around a bit (fewer high drops more low drops/more lands or less lands/Varying your removal). This helps trim the fat, creates a consistent deck, and gives you a nice starting point.
Example:
- Lashwrithe
- Plague Stinger
- Flensermite
- Unnatural Endurance
- Grotesque Mutation
- Victim of Night
- Distress
- Molting Snakeskin
- Unholy Strength or Dark Favor
- 24 Swamp
Do your research, test it out, keep what works toss what doesn't. Always glad to see new players. Best of luck!

So, I have a few ideas we could hash out for this deck, and I included a bunch of cards that I'll just give you, as well as a few cards you should pick up and plan to use, regardless. We can sit down and actually hash this out together if you'd like, or you can wing it and develop something on your own. Either way, I'm stoked you're getting so into this!

IcyLightning on Sanguine Bond/ Exquisite Blood Deck
7 years ago
I love Sanguine Bond so I'm going to take a crack at helping out this deck.
I'm assuming you're new to Magic and don't have access to a ton of cards, so I'll keep it pretty budget, even though there are a TON of cards that could benefit this deck longterm if you really like it and want to make it competitive, such as Vampiric Tutor and Demonic Tutor like Triton suggested. Also try to establish a format you're playing in. If its casual, that's fine, it just helps out knowing what cards you can work with when building and advising on a deck.
First the basics, the deck is kind of all over the place. You have a lot of cards that don't assist the win con, or what you're main strategy for the deck is, which is using Sanguine Bond to deal damage or going infinite with Sanguine Bond+Exquisite Blood. So cull the herd, cards like Duty-Bound Dead don't contribute to your win condition at all, and should be replaced with something that can benefit the deck more.
Creatures:I'd say go for the lifelink route, as it will trigger Sanguine Bond and also help sustain you longer, which is essential in this type of deck while you are setting up your combo. You already have some creatures such as Insatiable Harpy, but there is a ton of cheaper and all around better creatures that can do it better. Vampire Nighthawk Def. this guy, run 4x. He is value for days.Child of Night Classic Monoblack creatureMourning Thrull Not explicitly lifelink, but the same effectDivinity of Pride is excellent in a lifegain deck, and could potentially be an alt win con
Spells:You need to run more then 1 copy of Sanguine Bond and Exquisite Blood if you want to have any hope of getting those cards out consistently, and consistency is the hallmark of a good MTG deck. So run several copies, maybe not 4 of each unless you are REALLY committed to the combo, I'd suggest 3 Sanguine Bond and 2 Exquisite Blood, and then add from there if you still have trouble getting them out.You can Tutor for them with Diabolic Tutor, a budget Vampiric Tutor or Demonic Tutor.
Also, I'd run more dedicated removal. Doom Blade, Murder, Flesh to Dust are all great mono black removal and budget friendly.Tribute to Hunger can be good for this deck, but is much more situational. Tendrils of Corruption and Exsanguinate both have the potential to be devastating.
Ditch cards like Banewasp Affliction, Molting Snakeskin. They don't add much to the deck. Essence Feed is just way to expensive for its effect. Swap out Golden Urn, Demon's Horn, and Staff of the Death Magus for more Whip of Erebos, or add in Chalice of Life Flip or Elixir of Immortality.
Read the Bones and Sign in Blood can both be great card advantage for a deck that has excess life like yours will, so definitely add more of those.
-Unless you're really set on Liliana of the Dark Realms, she doesn't add much to the deck.
- Also, run 24 lands, maybe 23 if you can consistently get out the Bonds, but they are both 5 cmc, so you're Average CMC cost is high. This means you need the land to be able to play them. You could run some non basic lands such as Ghost Quarter to help thin the deck, or something like Radiant Fountain to give you that much more life, but don't run too many of these. And if budget isn't a concern... well there are ton of pricey lands that could really speed up the deck.
One more note, and that is the Mono Black deck. This deck can really benefit from splashing White. Like really benefit. White has so many options available for lifegain its ridiculous.
You can check out my Vampire tribal Sanguine Bond deck here if you wanted to see something like that:
Blood is Life... And your Death
And there are a lot of other more competitive versions of this deck that could really assist you should you want to up this into higher territory.
Wow I wrote a lot, but Black/White is my favorite color combo and was the first deck I ever made, so it holds a special place to me. Hope that I helped, and don't hesitate to ask any questions!
