Zacama, Primal Calamity and Panharmonicon

Asked by Chickens_are_awesome 6 years ago

If I have a Panharmonicon in play and I play zacama when can I respond to second enter the battlefield ability (the one from panharmonicon) by tapping all my lands for mana?

After the first ETB resolves.

Assuming no responses:

  1. Play Zacama.
  2. Resolve Zacama.
  3. 2 Zacama ETB's go on the stack.
  4. 1st Zacama ETB resolves, untapping your lands.
  5. Float all your mana. (Mana abilities don't use the stack.)
  6. 2nd Zacama ETB resolves, untapping your lands again.

Easy as pie.

The fact that mana abilities don't use the stack doesn't matter though. After resolving a spell or ability, the active player (you) receives priority.
So when you resolve Zacama and the two Panharmonicon triggers go on the stack, you let the first one resolve, tap your mana and activate any ability if you wish before the second can resolve.
You could for example tap all your mana; cast a Whitemane Lion, choose to target to bounce the Lion AND zacama with the triggers, since they are doubled as well, and resolve all that before you untap the lands for the second time.

Other than that addition Sonel666 is fully correct :).

I wasn't saying it mattered. It was just an fyi to explain why I wasn't putting the abilities on the stack and taking them off again in my step-by-step.
