Xenagos, god of revels and bloodrush

Asked by wonder_llama 10 years ago

Say I have a Xenagos, God of Revels on the field along side a Desecration Demon . I have a Ghor-Clan Rampager in hand and all the available mana I would need. Could I bloodrush the Desecration Demon using Ghor-Clan Rampager making DD a 10/10 then enter combat and use Xenagos, God of Revels 's ability to pump the DD to a 20/20?

Xenagos's ability happens before attackers can be declared, so no, you cannot bloodrush first.

No.

Bloodrush can only target an attacking creature, which means it can only be activated during the combat phase after the active player declares attackers.

Xenagos, God of Revels 's ability triggers during the beginning of combat step, which precedes the declare attackers step. You won't be able to bloodrush at this time.

No, Ghor-Clan Rampager bloodrush ability is only used when attacking. Which is known during the declare attackers step, after you've turned him sideways. Xenagos, God of Revels ability triggers when you go to combat at the start of the combat phase. In short it works like this. 1. you declare combat, Desecration Demon 's trigger and xenagos' trigger go on the stack, you pick the order to stack them, optimally, you put xenago's first, then descecration. you pick the creature to give the bonus's too (as part of putting it on the stack, targeting), your opponent then gets to choose to sac a creature to tap dd. Then the abilities attempt to resolve, first dd's, if nothing was saced and you targeted him with xenagod, his ability attempts to resolve and if it does, dd is 12/12. Then you move to the attack phase, where you declare attackers, then before it ends (or any time you have priority before damage is dealt), you bloodrush him to make him a 16/16 trample.

There are too many if's to make this work reliably with DD. But in general that's how that plays out.

Thanks for the answers guys! I guess I should have picked a better creature than Desecration Demon for the example.... but it makes sense how you all put it.
