Will Teysa Karlov work with Athreos?

So I know that Teysa Karlov will allow Athreos, God of Passage 's ability to trigger twice. What I am wondering, is if both triggers of an opponent paying 3 life need to be paid to keep the creature that died from returning to my hand?
In more boring terms, there are two triggers on the stack. The first resolves, asking your opponent to pay 3 life to keep you from getting your creature back. If they choose not to pay, great. You get your creature back and the second trigger doesn't do anything because you got your creature back already.
But if your opponent does pay, then the next trigger resolves. The creature's not back in your hand yet, so the trigger asks your opponent to pay 3 life again or you get it back. They can pay again (you don't get your creature at all), or they can decide 6 life isn't worth it and actually let you have your creature this time.

Yep! There are basically two guys shaking your opponent down. They both want the same thing, so he has to pay for both triggers to keep either one from working.
