Which resolves first Bearer of the Heavens' trigger or Marchesa, the Black Rose's return to play trigger?

Asked by Runeroads 8 years ago

So if I have Bearer of the Heavens die with a +1/+1 counter and I have Marchesa, the Black Rose in play. Do I get to choose how the triggers are stacked at the beginning of end step? So all permanents are destroyed and the Bearer of the Heavens is returned to play? If Marchesa, the Black Rose has a +1/+1 counter and dies at the beginning of the end step due to Bearer of the Heavens ability does she then come back into play at the beginning of next end step (opponents turn)?

If you control two triggered abilities that trigger at the same time, you choose the order in which they are put on the stack. In this case, they are delayed triggered abilities, but that doesn't matter much.

You can indeed arrange the triggers so that Bearer of the Heavens will wipe the board, then return from Marchesa's ability.

Marchesa herself will come back if you didn't decide to return her to the command zone instead of to the graveyard, assuming you're using her as your commander.

Yes and yes.

Both delayed triggered abilities trigger simultaneously, and, because you control both of them, you choose the order in which they're placed on the stack. If you place Marchesa, the Black Rose's DTA on the stack first, then place Bearer of the Heavens's ability above it, you'll destroy all permanents, then get your Bearer of the Heavens back. If, during the resolution of Bearer of the Heavens's ability, any of your creatures has a +1/+1 counter on it when it dies, Marchesa, the Black Rose's ability will trigger and establish a DTA for that creature. This new DTA will trigger at the beginning of the next end step, which means your opponent's end step (unless another end step comes first).
