When you play another Legendary does the other one technically die?

If you have a legendary creature out, let's say Ishkanah, Grafwidow and you go to play another, I know it will replace itself, trigger it's effect but the question I want to know is, is the original Ishkanah, Grafwidow technically die? Possibly triggering Liliana, Heretical Healer  Flip?

When controlling two permanents with the same English name, you will have to choose one of them and put it into the graveyard as a state-based action. It's neither destroyed nor sacrificed, but it does die, as dieing simply means being put from the battlefield to the graveyard. It will trigger Liliana.

Does that mean if copy Ulrich the legendary werewolf, does that mean I can choose the older Ulrich to die, go to the graveyard, and the new Copied Ulrich enters battlefield gives + 4/4 to target creature?
