Waxing Moon with Zada?

If I cast Waxing Moon targetting Zada, Hedron Grinder or Mirrorwing Dragon will the spell still copy to any Werewolves I have on the battlefield?

Or said another way, can I target Zada with Waxing Moon?

No. Waxing Moon specifies that the targeted creature must be a werewolf (Same concept with Plummet type spells).

Thanks! I didn't think you could cast a spell or activate an ability without a legal target, but wanted to double-check!

Small clarification: So I can cast it no problem (due to the "up to one"), but since Zada is not a valid target, I can't "target only Zada", so her trigger won't activate. Right?

Oh yes, of course. Your peeps can gain the trample, but Zada can't trigger.
