Tapping once for multiple abilities?

Asked by Mattie3Thumbs 7 years ago

I want to build a pauper deck but it hinges on if this works or not...here is the question.

Prodigal Sorcerer can tap do do 1 damage. If I equip him with Viridian Longbow or enchant him with Psionic Gift would tapping him the once be able to trigger both instances of 1 damage? Do the tap abilities work in tandem?

I want to be able to tap once and do 2-4 damage as I choose to either keep the board clear or straight up hit face. Please help because I think it may work but I'm regularly wrong about these things.

Thanks in advance for all help.

You have a duplicate post.

And to answer your question, no. He would have two to three instances of the same ability and you're activating one of them.

The important thing here is that none of these abilities trigger. These cards all have (or convey) activated abilities.

Activated abilities are written in the form "[cost]: [effect]." An activated ability must be manually activated, and you can only activate one ability at a time (although you can continue to activate abilities afterward as long as you can pay the costs).

Triggered abilities are written in the form "[at/when/whenever] [event], [effect]." A triggered ability triggers automatically when its trigger condition is met. Multiple triggered abilities may trigger from the same event.

In this case, you have to choose one of the abilities to activate. Once you activate that ability, you'll be unable to pay for the other abilities because Prodigal Sorcerer will be tapped (and therefore be unable to be tapped again).
