Question about 2 cards

Asked by CChaos 5 years ago

I wanted to know if I could select and discard creatures in my opponent's hand with Tortured Existence through the ability of Sen Triplets . While discarding the card from their hand, I believe I can return creatures from my graveyard to my hand.

My guess is that doesn’t work. When a card gets discarded, it goes into the graveyard of its owner (which is never you, even if you can play from their hand)... I think.

Found a site, chat.magicjudges.org, where they said to access to my oppnent's hand is only through playing from their hand, no other interaction is allowed (using my enchantment to discard from their hand).

Sen Triplets ' ability allows you to play the cards from your opponent's hand. The cards though are not in your hand and thus can not be chosen for effects such as discarding, or to be the target of an ability which allows you to play something from your hand. If for example you were to have an ability such as Chakram Retriever 's which triggers off your casting spells, it does not care about the source of the card being your opponent's hand, because you are the one casting it.

To play a card is to play that card as a land or cast that card as a spell. Sen Triplets allows you to play cards from the targeted opponent's hand.

Tortured Existence has you discard cards, not play them. You can't use Sen Triplets in conjunction with this to discard your opponents' cards.
