Is Blowfly Infestation As good as it sounds?

Asked by VynnRook 9 years ago

I play a deck featured here http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/fester-1/ It features Blowfly Infestation and Crumbling Ashes as a combo. I was recently in a debate with an opponent about how the blowfly works. I read the card as it says, so if I destroy a creature with a -1/-1 counter and it goes to the graveyard, I immediately put another -1-1 counter on a target creature. If that is enough to destroy the creature, it too goes to the graveyard, and then I immediately place 'another' -1-1 counter on another creature. In the same turn, not spaced out over multiple turns. If it isn't enough to destroy the creature outright, on the start of my next turn I can simply destroy that creature with the ashes, and start the process over again. This to me seems to be the bane of scrub decks, am I right in how I'm interpreting the cards use?

Yes, this works the way you want. Keep in mind though that both abilities are mandatory. If you're the only player with any creatures on the battlefield, you'll be forced to target your own creatures with the triggers.

Hmm... something else for the Corpse Cur to bring back from the graveyard I guess.
