Dose a player have to reveal cards before changing zones?

Does Demonlord Belzenlok’s ETB require revealing cards from the top of the library prior to changing zones to hand or exile?

Yes, because his ability checks for certain card requirements and you have to reveal each card so that everyone (your opponent) can see that a certain type is revealed (land or nonland 3 CMC- or nonland 4CMC+) in order to make sure that the trigger chain stops or continues.

that was my assumption. would you be able to point me to a rule or ruling validating that by chance?

The card itself in gatherer doesn't specify such a thing, however the general rule for exiling is as follows:

406.3. Exiled cards are, by default, kept face up and may be examined by any player at any time. Cards “exiled face down” can’t be examined by any player except when instructions allow it. However, once a player is allowed to look at a card exiled face down, that player may continue to look at that card as long as it remains exiled, even if the instruction allowing the player to do so no longer applies. A card exiled face down has no characteristics, but the spell or ability that exiled it may allow it to be played from exile. Unless that card is being cast face down (see rule 707.4), the card is turned face up just before the player announces that he or she is playing the card (see rule 601.2). http://mtg.wikia.com/wiki/Exile Hope that helps :)

You don't reveal it before it changes zones, you reveal as it enters exile, but there isn't really a functional difference. All the cards go to exile, nonland ones just get added to your hand after being exiled.

that mechanic makes more sense. all cards are exiled andsubject to 406.3, qualifying cards leave exile for your hand.

thanks people!
