Does Vorincles ability remain after lands get untapped by another source

Asked by JoltsOfEnergy 7 years ago

So this is the situation. I have a vorinclex, voice of hunger on my field. My opponent used 2 mana to cast a go for the throat to kill it. Afterwards he untapped them with garruk, wildspeaker and tapped them again to play something else. Do these two lands untap during his next untap step or does vorinclex ability remain, because he tapped them while vorinclex was still alive?

Please link all cards in your question: Vorinclex, Voice of Hunger, Garruk Wildspeaker

They do not untap during their controller's next untap step. The condition of not untapping at a certain time has not been met yet.

ok, so they do not untap? I am not sure what you mean by the condition not having been met.

so they do not untap right? What do you mean with the condition not having been met?

Garruk's ability will untap them, but the Vorinclex effect is still affecting the lands. During your opponent's next untapped step, those two lands will not untap.

There's no condition here; that's sort of an inaccurate way to explain things. The ability isn't waiting for something to try to untap those lands.

Vorinclex, Voice of Hunger's second triggered ability creates an effect that applies to the land it triggered for. This effect makes it so that the land doesn't untap during its controller's next untap step. Untapping the land through a separate means does not change the fact that these lands won't untap during their controller's next untap step.
