Does Quicken allow you to equip at instant speed?

Asked by wasianpower 7 years ago

My question is that because Quicken says that the next time you cast a sorcery you can do it at instant speed and equip says you can only do it 'as a sorcery,' since you can now cast a sorcery at instant speed, does that mean you can equip at instant speed? Same question for Alchemist's Refuge and Hypersonic Dragon.

no. t say "as a sorcery", that doesn't make it a sorcery. Also Quicken says "the next time that you CAST a sorcery", and equipping isn't casting.

Equip is not a sorcery, or even a spell at all. Equip is an ability which can be activated at sorcery speed.

"Sorcery speed" just means that it must be activated on your turn, in your main phase, while you have priority and the stack is empty. It doesn't mean the object it's on is automatically a sorcery spell.

Quicken does not apply to equip speed whatsoever.

"As a sorcery" or "only any time you could cast a sorcery" is shorthand for "on your main phase when you have priority and the stack is empty". Anything that changes when you could cast a sorcery does not change when you can activate abilities with either of those restrictions.
